Obituary of Wallace L. Zesiger

Wallace L. Zesiger, a resident of Olympia for 70 years, 47 of which have been spent living on Patterson Lake in the home he built himself, passed away at home on Monday, April 17, 2006. He was born April 24, 1928 in Vancouver, Wash. to Leslie C. and Adah (Guetzloe) Zesiger. The family moved to the Carrols before coming to Olympia. He attended Olympia High School before entering the service then attended Grays Harbor Community College in Aberdeen where he studied Welding Technology and Testing. Wallace served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Boxer. On November 23, 1951 he married Marg Lindholm in Olympia. She survives him at the family home. He had worked planting evergreen trees, erecting television antennas on homes around Olympia, had been an apprentice at Western Metalcraft, a millwright for St. Paul Plywood Company, a welding fabricator for Reliable Steel, a field sales representative for Miraldi Welding Supplies, a fabricator for Custom Welding and a design and construction fabricator for The Department of Natural Resources. Wally enjoyed outdoors activities; including hunting, fishing, camping and scouting. His life’s passion involved the restoration of firearms and he enjoyed the company of others that appreciated the same interest. He was an original member of the Capitol City Rifle Club at Hawks Aprairie and a member of the National Rifle Association. In addition to his wife, Marg, he is survived by a son, Les of Olympia; daughter, Sherry Ward (Seth) of Boise, Idaho; two grandsons, Sean and Shayne and a brother-in-law, Marvin Lindholm of Anchorage, Alaska. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 24, 2006 at the Masonic Center, 521 North St. SE, Tumwater.
