Obituary of Linda M. Winner

Linda M. Winner Our beloved Linda M. Winner passed away suddenly in her home on January 5, 2010 with her husband and her loyal Yorkies, Newman and Harley, by her side. Linda left a legacy of love, kindness and a giving spirit that touched the lives of her family and many friends. Linda Maureen Berndson was born July 10, 1947 in Olympia, Washington. She was the 3rd of 5 children born to Bennie and Hilda Berndson. She attended Tumwater schools, graduating from Tumwater High School where she met the love of her life, Dean Winner. After attending Centralia College and securing a job at the State Department of Social and Health Services, she and Dean married on February 23, 1968. Their love endured through 41 years of marriage blessing them with two sons, Jeff and Jason. Family was very important to Linda. After Jeff’s birth, Linda went to work as an elementary school secretary for the Olympia School District so she could have more time to spend with him and then Jason after his birth. Dean and Linda loved, supported and guided Jeff and Jason throughout their lives and, as a result, raised two wonderful sons who now have families of their own. Linda was a beautiful person both inside and out. She loved and enjoyed many things – time with her grandchildren, camping in their motor home with family and friends, the many trips she and Dean took, getting together with her “Black Hat” friends, her annual “Sisters” day, crafting, quilting and stamping. She was an angel that walked among us and blessed our lives with a welcome heart and unconditional love. For each and every one of you that knew and loved her, hold onto the special memories she left behind. She will always be with us in our hearts. She left us all too soon and now she is at peace with her family in Heaven. Linda is survived by her faithful and caring husband, Dean; son Jeff, his wife Stephanie and their son Jackson; son Jason, his wife Dina and their children Faith and Zack; mother Hilda Berndson; sisters Priscilla Mayo and Deanna (Mike) Kildall; sister-in-law Bonita Berndson and many nieces and nephews. Her father Bennie Berndson, brothers Dean and Danny Berndson, in-laws Alice and Gerald Thomas and brother-in-law Pete Mayo, preceded her in death. Our family is grateful for the loving care of her doctors and the countless prayers and help from so many thoughtful people. Although our hearts are saddened by her loss, we know your prayers will bring comfort and healing.
