Shirley was always a great person. She gave me a safe haven when I really needed one. I have many memories of hanging out at the green house, drinking pespi, watching whatever and talking the day away. If we ran out of milk that was ok but if someone drank the last pepsi, look out!! My heart goes out to you all, I know what an important part she played in all your lives, including my childrens. She fought the big fight for many years and she was always all smiles. What an amazing woman. We can all learn something form her. God Bless you all and goodbye Shirley. You left a mark on us all.

There's no such love like what you feel for your MaMa. I always thought a lot of Shirley - she was such a nice lady. I can't imagine what you are feeling now. Know that I am thinking of all of you.

Dear Ken, Bill, Donna, Cindy, Randy, Chuck and Tanya,
I will be traveling when you have Shirley's memorial. I wish very much that I could be there to celebrate her life with you. I want you to know that my heart will be there with you.
Your mom was the most accepting, non-judgemental woman I have known. When I was in dire straights, she took me and my kids in. She helped me and supported me while I put my life back together, never judging or criticising the decisions I made. I loved her very much and will miss her. I hope that, as you hear and share great memories, those memories will give you strength and you will, with me, celebrate the great woman that she is and will continue to be for each of you. Love to you all, Aunt Caroline

Sorry to hear about your mom. I remember going up to your house and always made to feel welcome. I still have a picture she took of me and one of your dogs that had had puppies. :-) My thoughts are with you all.

I hope Shirley's loved ones are able to find peace in the fact that the last chapter of her life was spent with a man she loved dearly, and loved her back the same. In Shirley's memory I pray that all of her children and loved ones very soon find the same happiness she was fortunate to find and spend the rest of their lives living out a life of peaceful love and contentment.

A rose once grew where all could see, sheltered beside a garden wall, And, as days passed swiftly by, it spread its branches, straight and tall...
One day, a beam of light shone through a crevice that had opened wide, The rose bent gently toward its warmth then passed beyond to the other side...
Now, you who deeply feel its loss, be comforted...the rose blooms there..Its beauty even greater now, nurtured by God's own loving care.

My condolences to all of the family and even though it has been years since I have seen your mom and all of you I feel very very sorry to hear of her passing. She was a kindred spirit, kind and gentle person and a good friend to all who knew her. While we were employed at the Liquor Control Board we enjoyed alot of memorable times together. Shirley was an extremely good dancer and could really cut a rug. She will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. When I think of her it takes me to a snap shot of another time, and I conveniently remember just the good times. She seemed to bend and not break with life’s many changes and challenges. I know she will be missed.

Doug, Donna, Cindy, Randy, Linda, Billy, Lisa, J.D., and Kenny: You took such wonderful care of her and I thank you for letting us have time with her these last couple of weeks. Love, Tam & Mikey
