Obituary of Joan Waymon
Joan Waymon was born on December 9, 1949 to the late John and Mabel Bouie in Valdosta, GA. She was raised by the late Oscar and Blossom Waymon. In 1967, Joan graduated from Pinevale High School in Valdosta, GA. After graduation, she joined Levi-Strauss as a machine operator from which she retired. After retirement she graduated from Trend Business College in Olympia WA where she received her AA in Business.
In June 1991 she relocated to Lacey, WA. She became a dedicated member of the New Life Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Wendell D. Morris. During her membership at New Life she served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Young Matrons, Treasure of Sunday School Department and a vital member of the Women of Praise, Sanctuary Chorale and the Adult Choir.
On January 9, 2007 Joan Waymon passed into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ at Providence St Peter Hospital in Olympia WA.
Joan will be remembered with deep love and affection by her son, Stephen T. Bowers, daughter-in-law, Charlotte and grandson, Josh. Four sisters; Jeanette (Ralph) Waymon Reid of Lacey WA; Sylvia (Willie) Waymon Bellamy of Summerville, SC; Irene Mincey of Valdosta, GA and Pamela (Nathan) Waymon Wilson of Fairbanks, Alaska, two brothers, Arthur (Arletha) L. Waymon of Valdosta, GA and Raymond (Linda) Waymon of Summerville, SC and a host of nieces and nephews. Extended family members and friends.
