I only learned of my friends passing today. I first met Wally in 1991 working in the USAF missile fields of F.E. Warren AFB. I immediately liked this friendly jokester. He showed me the in's and out's of working the field. We hung out a lot when we were not in the field. I taught him to play pool and he returned by teaching me to fly fish and tie flies. We both left active duty in June of 1992 and joined the 302nd Reserves at Peterson AFB. I went to work and he went to school to be a commercial pilot. While we were both in Colorado we spent quite a bit of time working on his old Bronco in my Dads garage. I was sad to learn that He and Holly were moving to Washington. I was also happy for them, knowing that they really wanted to end up there. We kept in touch regularly for a while and visited a couple times in Washington. As always seem's to happen we take for granted our friends will always be there. Holly, I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss my Friend. Dan and Lalaine Basham

What can I say, Wally was a great person. He will be missed. I thought it was wonderful how he was always thinking up cool surprises for Holly. He would bring her lunch at work on weekends. It was very evident how much he loved her.I'm sure he is still trying to think up something neat when they are reunited, although I think maybe he gets lots of "time outs"! Will always remember him fondly,

Mr. Wallace,
I believe there is a better place than where you are my friend. You are in no pain, no sorrow, only joy, peace and love.
We cry because Wally is gone.
We all have to stay here without him. If you believe he is happier now, and a part of him will always be with us, it will make it easier to go on with our life.
Thanks for always being so kind to me "Wally".

Oh my gosh, Ray, you precious man...you will be so very missed. You were always such a joy to fly with when I knew you in Portland, many years ago. I am just in shock with this sad news. God bless you, my funny friend. Oh, bless your entire family! I know how loved Ray is, and always will be. I feel such sorrow to hear that you aren't with us now. You always made me laugh when I flew with you. What a super, cool human being. I remember taxiing out in Seattle one day and you spotted an Alaska plane across from us, and you said, "I wonder why Alaska has a United flight attendant painted on their plane." What a hoot!! Love, love, love to you, and your family. Miss you already, Ray....RIP, good man.

I recently have lost loved ones and so I know how the emptiness and sadness...but we must keep going on...god bless you!

I was another flight attendant that really liked to have Ray as my Captain. I specifically remember him telling me how he mailed Holly Valentines cards that he first sent to the postmasters in romantic places, like "Kissamee,fl or Loveland Co to have them postmarked before being sent. A big hearted man who adored his wife, jolly, serious, kind and giving. So saddened to hear of this untimely loss for your family.

I only spent a few days getting to know Wally, on a weekend boys trip with his brother and father. Kind, gentle, wonderful, with an incredibly sly sense of humor - I could go on and on and only wish I had been able to spend more time with him. Great person and a great family - you are all very much in my thoughts and prayers. Oz

Ray was a kind and happy man. Shortly after I met him, he repaired my cue stick before my husband could see what I had done to it. He did an awesome job and refused to let me pay him. Ray touched a lot of lives and no words can express how much he will be missed.
