5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mon., Sept. 27, 2010 Funeral Alternatives of Washington 2830 Willamette Drive Dr NE Suite G Lacey Lawrence Ronald Walker Lawrence Ronald Walker, 74, of Lacey, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at his home. Larry was born June 13, 1936 in Spanaway, Washington to Lawrence and Gloe (Ansteth) Walker. His family lived in Tacoma where he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. He later attended Bates Vocational Institute and became a Certified Engineering Technician. Larry served in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1957 in Company “C” 83rd Engineering Battalion in France. From 1964 to 1988 he served in the Washington Army National Guard, 81st Infantry Brigade. Larry worked for the City of Tacoma Public Works Department. His engineering career there lasted for thirty years when he retired in 1988. He was a member of the National Institute of Certified Engineering Technologies, the Retired Sergeants Major and Chiefs Association, a charter member of the Washington State National Guard Sergeants Major Association, treasurer and Legislative Director of the Washington State Veterans Legislative Coalition. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His interests were in genealogy and traveling. On July 8, 1975 in Provo, Utah, Larry married Andrea Marie Hill, who survives. He is also survived by son, Judd Kay Walker of St. Augustine, Florida; daughters, Francesca Louise Benoit of Tacoma and Kimmie Noelle Walker of Renton; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter. Those who wish may pay their respects from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 at Funeral Alternatives of Washington, 2830 Willamette Drive Dr NE Suite G, Lacey. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9341 4th Ave. NE, Olympia followed by a graveside service with full military honors beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
