I believe that Floyd was the best man at my father's (Austin Lee Davidson) wedding. I have been scanning old army photos of my Dad who died on April 9, 2009. I have many photos of Floyd from their day together in photo school and of their days on their way to Manila. One is of Floyd in Kwajalein. I would love to send you these scans. marcia.henshaw@gmail.com Hope to hear from you

I was out of town and just heard about the passing of Floyd. I wish I could have been here to express my sympathy in person. I am glad I had the opportunity to know your family from the early days on Hicks Lake. Memories will last forever and I know you too have many that will help you through this difficult time.

I am Floyd's "other daughter" (Lee's wife). I had so much respect for my other father and he treated me with equal respect. As an "ad man" in the days, he just couldn't believe the technology that we have now. He was always so amazed when I would tell him that we just "uploaded" the magazine to the printer and they would have it within minutes and ready to print. He would also sometimes teasingly call me a "hard-nosed business woman" when I would tell him some stories. He always made me feel special and looked forward to when I cooked. He loved my cooking, but didn't care too much for the rice.
Lee respected and loved his father deeply. His dad was his mentor! He was so excited when we bought the Community Values Magazine. He told Lee he would have loved to have worked with him and they would be quite the team. Lee would bounce ideas, they would share stories. It was wonderful to watch them. Floyd was sharp as a tack, very smart and greatly admired.
He also had so much pride and he loved his wife Doris immensely. Lee and I took them on road trips when they couldn't drive any longer. The last place we took them was Long Beach. It was one of their most favorite places to go. They had their favorite hotel, and little hangout place. On that last trip, they wanted us to drop them off at one of their "places" for a couple hours. When we came back, the whole parking lot was littered with motorcycles. Of course, I was freaking out, but no worries. Apparently, Floyd and Doris were the talk of the group and made lots of new friends. They were glowing and Doris flirted with all the men. It was a sight! We later almost got stuck in the sand on the beach with them in the back seat. It was a wonderful trip. We also took them to the Oregon Coast and family reunions.
Floyd will be greatly missed. He was the light in Doris's eyes.

Mr. Townsend was one of my all-time favorite people. On the job, he taught me the importance of always doing the best you can for your customers. Away from work he was truly "a man in full," with an contagiously exuberant personality that radiated and always cheered those around him. My heart goes out to the Townsend family on their great loss.
