Gladys Taber

Obituary of Gladys Taber

Gladys Marie (Anderson) Taber Gladys, 95, passed away on July 26, 2008 at Sharon Care Center in Centralia. Gladys was born on March 19, 1913 in Bismarck, North Dakota. She was married to Kemper 'Jack' Washburn Taber who preceded her in death in 1963. Her parents, William and Gena Anderson of Bucoda, 2 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death as well. Growing up in Bucoda, at the age of 5, Gladys was diagnosed with Polio and although disabled led a full life, never really feeling handicapped. Gladys spent many years enjoying her work at the local bank in Tenino. Always proud of Tenino, she loved hosting the garden club and visiting with her friends or playing pinochle. Some of her fondest memories were of housing local college students. She was an active member of the Tenino Eagles where she always liked a great game of bingo! At the age of 55 she learned to drive, did a darn good job of it, and made many jaunts around the area. Yet most of all she was proudest of her family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Carole Vandiver of Olympia; her granddaughters, Karen Miller (Dan) of Olympia, Linda Vandiver of Montesano, and grandchildren, Brianna and Jason Miller of Olympia. Also survivng Gladys is her last surviving sibling (she was one of six children) Don Anderson (Beverly) of Centralia and numerous nieces, nephews, greats and great greats. In March of 2008 her entire family and many friends, celebrated her 95th birthday together. This celebration delighted Gladys beyond words and is a wonderful memory for all the family and friends to keep. In lieu of a formal memorial service may we all remember Gladys as the beautiful and happy birthday gal she was on that very special day!
