Lola was our younger son's pre-school teacher. She was a very special teacher and a very special lady. I have so many memories of her. I remember with fondness the day my sons and I helped family, and other friends of Lola's, move her belongings from her house and into her new home. Lola had a plan for where everything would go in her new home -- and it all fit! Bob enjoyed talking about the birds at Bowerman Basin with her. Bob joins me in sending heartfelt sympathy to you, her lovely and loving family. Carol and Bob Dunn

Lola was my son's preschool teacher for 2 years. I also knew her from the United Churches. She was a very kind and caring woman and showed her love for children. May your special memories comfort you during this sad time in your families loss.

As one of her young children in church school, I always remember Lola as a loving, and compassionate teacher, who always listened to me when I was young. She was very special to me when I was young at United Churches.

Dear Vesta, Sylvia and families,
We first met your mother working in the Camp Fire program. We also knew her through attending United Churches.
Also, I worked with her in a Vacation Bible School. She was a delightful person, always pleased to see a friend. Chuck built some of the equipment for her pre-school at church. Every time I saw Lola, she was upbeat, always asking about Chuck and our sons.
Your dad's death was a blow to her, but she carried on. I know Sylvia's little boy was so special to her and she was always so proud of her girls.
I will miss Lola very much, her pleasant, positive attitude and many kindnesses.

I first met Lola when I started attending the Monday Night Group at her home. We would discuss books related to life, and issues of life. I then learned of her wonderful work with pre-school children. She became a regular attender at our Saturday Service Community, and when her grandson was born she would glow when she talked about him. She loved her birds, her animals, and her wonderful family. She will be missed....

Lola was always such a warm, wonderful, caring person. She always had time for a visit. I first met Lola at United Churches. She was in charge of the preschool there. I always remember that she loved and cared for all of those young people. She always had many good ideas to entertain, teach and motivate those youngsters. I know Lola will be missed by all her knew her.

Dear Sil,
I'm very sorry to hear this news. Your mother will be greatly missed. I especially remember that sweet, heart melting smile of hers and that little twinkle in her eyes. Such a kind and loveable lady. She loved you immensely and was so lucky to have such a special family. Feel comfort knowing she's in a better place, and gain strength from your adorable son who was so precious to her. My heart goes out to you and your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love, Karen

I will always remember Lola's delight in the lives of children she touched while a member of United Churches. She had that unique ability to see things through a child's eyes while at the same time lending the gentle hand of adult guidance. May she always have a special place in all our hearts.

Although I never met your Mom Sil, my heart breaks for you. It has been too long since we saw you and I had no idea she was so ill. I am so happy that you & Jeff gave her Daniel and she had this time to watch him grow. Reading about her life made me smile, all the lives she touched in such a possitive way. Know that you are in our thoughts & we love you, Jeff and Daniel! Dave, Michelle, Jordan & Justin Freed

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you, Vesta and Silvia, with your mother's passing. She touched many lives in our community and in many ways - our family is one that she touched with love, caring and friendship. The girls attended her Sunday School class and Cheryl was part of her pre-school for two years; me, I was the student and helper where I learned so much. Lola opened so many doors to me and to my daughters that I will not forget.
With these memories of a loving, caring, active participant in life, Lola will live on in all of us. Blessings of peace and new life that Lola has entered and may we all continue with the love she has given us.

Lola was my daughter's pre-school teacher and also taught Sunday School at United Churches some 27 years ago. She loved children, and I'm so happy she lived to see her very own grandson. She was such a warm and kindly person that you always felt, "Oh, good, there's Lola Smith," when you ran into her at Saturday night services or shopping at Bayview. Our sympathy to the two daughters she loved so much.
