Dear Frances and family: We will miss Charlie but we know that he is in a much better place and no longer in pain. The service was beautiful and Charlie would have been proud of the speakers at mass. I have many fond memories of Charlie as we were growing up and going to school together, birthday parties at the farm etc. May God bless all of you. We love you all and will keep you in our prayers. Aunt Frances, Eileen, Carl, Shirley and Janet. Uncle Charlie will always be a huge part of my most treasured childhood memories. The way I remember him best is wearing blue jeans and striding in his powerful way out to the barns. Always ready with a smile and a twinkle in his eye. Taking time to explain things to us "California City kids" Rita talked about him so much when we were little my dad nick named her "Uncle Charlie" That was a name he fondly used for her for years! I will miss him so much yet am happy that he is with his Father in Heaven. Love Anita

Charlie, Was a model husband, father, and grandfather and he will be truly missed by so many people in addition to the large Schilter family. I have been blessed to have known him for the last 18 years and I always enjoyed the chance to meet at the farm and talk with him about the farm and family. I know he was a man of great faith and he is surely at peace and resting now and no longer bound by his disabilities. God bless the Schilter Family

I was saddened by the news, but knew the strength of faith and family would carry everyone. Charlie was a kind and gentle devoted husband and father. For the many years I knew him, he never had an enemy. Life on earth as we know it was forever blessed with his presence.

I have many fond memories of Charlie and watching him work the farm. He is, to my mind, the quintessential family farmer. Charlie had a way about him that I've always admired.
My condolences to your family for your loss and my gratitude for the opportunity to meet a man who, for these many years, still resonates with me. I trust you will meet again and he will be hale and hearty.

It was a joy to bring the Eucharist to Charlie weekly at the Adult Home. He deeply appreciated the opportunity to receive the Lord. His strong faith and resignation to God's Will were an inspiration to me. I was always greeted with a smile and "how are you today, Mal?", even when he did not feel well - always concerned about others and not himself.
Two topics he loved to talk about - family and farming. He loved and admired his immediate and extended families. His love of the land was very apparent. It was a God given gift to him.
I will miss you, Charlie but you are in a much better place. "May the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand"

What a loss to the Schilter family and the South Bay community. My sympathies Frances, Eileen, Carl, Shirley and Janet. The farm and your family are central to so many childhood memories. I will always remember Charlie as an honest, hard-working, proud man who thought the world of his family and faith. God bless you all.

One of my favorite memories of Charlie is when Bill and I took Charlie and his siblings to the Catholic School on our way to work. How cute the 4 of them were in our back seat. We so enjoyed watching him grow up and have a beautiful family. He was the best neighbor and fellow farmer a family could have. My thoughts are with each and everyone of you at this time.

Charlie was very kind and loving to me since I was a kid. I am thankful for the many summers and weekends I was able to stay and work on the farm. Many of my childhood memories involved Charlie and his family. I will continue to cherish those memories and be grateful I was blessed with the cousins that I have.

Charlie was a dear cousin who I also considered a friend. He and his family welcomed me and my family with open arms and hearts. I will miss sitting around the table and talking about life and having a good laugh. May he rest in peace and be a guardian angel to those he loved.

We will miss Charlie's good humor and conversations-from-the-trail. We have been so blessed to have known him. The LORD has taken him home and Charlie is at rest: no more pain, no more struggle. How good it will be to see him again, with Jesus, when it is our time.
God bless you and comfort you,
Ray and Frankie

Charlie, I am having a hard time believing you're gone. I will always remember your smile, laughter, and kindness. You had a wonderful soul and I'm sorry I wasn't around these last few years. Remember the time when I bought Ollie and he kicked Sloan in the groin? You laughed so hard because he tried not to cuss around me even though you know it had to hurt. It was priceless. ;)
Frances and kids, I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
All my love, Megs
