Obituary of Calvin S. Ritter

Private Family Only Calvin S. Ritter March 13, 1924 - November 5, 2007 Calvin S. Ritter died on November 5, 2007 in a hunting accident resulting in a fall. He was born in Durham, Arkansas to Arthur and Margaret Ritter. He married Connie Prilliman on August 9, 1954 in Centralia, Washington. Mr. Ritter worked as a logging equipment operator and welder for ITT Rayonier from 1959 until he retired in 1986. A Navy veteran, he served during WWII 1943-1946 in Panama on the USS Arctic as a “metal smith” Second Class. Calvin graduated from Rainier High School in 1942 and was the youngest welder to be at the shipyard in Tacoma where he worked while attending high school. “Cal” enjoyed working outdoors and was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed cutting firewood and picking wild blackberries. He and Connie and their two sons moved to Clallam Bay in Sept. of 1959 and have lived there for the past 48 years. Cal has three children; Calvin A. Ritter of Clallam Bay, Andrew D. Ritter and daughter in-law Kandy Ritter, of Clallam Bay and Doreen M. Adams and husband Monty, of Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren; Calvin A Ritter, Jennifer (Sis) Ritter, Justin A. Ritter, Lindsay D. Greene, Chad Heikkila, Tasha Greenbaugh, and Tina Beroniski; and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Deleane Thompson of Rainier, Washington and Juanita Baldwin of Rainier, Washington; brother, Junior Ritter of Olympia, Washington. Cal was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Glenda Lazelle; and grandchild, Calvin E. Ritter. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Clallam Bay High School sports program PO Box 337 Clallum Bay WA 98326 Services will be held at the Odd Fellows Memorial Park, 3802 Cleveland Ave. SE, Tumwater, Washington, 98501 at 1:00 p.m. on November 10th.
