Obituary of Frances A. Rawlings

Frances Annabelle Rawlings Frances Annabelle Rawlings, born February 2, 1921 passed away peacefully, November 5, 2008. She was born to Homer G. and Marie (Young) Rawlings in Seattle and was a dedicated family member always able to translate the comings and goings of the large and extended Rawlings families. Frances also had a brother, Homer G., Jr., who died, in Olympia at 1 year of age. Frances attended Olympia’s Collins Grade School, still standing on Yelm Highway. Due to the untimely death of her mother, Frances was raised by her beloved grandparents, Charles Arthur and Nellie Rawlings. Frances attended and graduated from Business College and enjoyed working for various agencies throughout her career. As a young adult, Frances moved to California to be near her father. In later years she worked for The Department of the Deaf and Blind in Seattle. She then transferred to Olympia, it being her last place of employment from which she retired and moved to Ballard. Frances had a thirst for knowledge and loved traveling to places near and far. Frances had a passion for genealogy, always proud of her heritage. As such, she belonged to a Genealogy Group and a Danish Club. Frances also belonged to the Audubon Society and was an avid member of the Mountaineers. Frances leaves behind family in Olympia, Tacoma and Portland, OR.; Thomas C. Rawlings (Carleta), Thomas E. Rawlings (Mary), Greg Rawlings (Jean), Paul Rawlings (Sharon). Members of the family would like to thank Teressa at 11 Pines Adult Family Home, the caring staff of Roo-Lan Lodge 2, dear friend Anna as well as the many faithful correspondents who kept the letters coming throughout her short stay in Olympia. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2008 in the chapel of St. John’s Episcopal Church on the corner of Capitol Way at 19th Avenue, Olympia.
