Tom and Carletta,
Thank you for telling us of Frances’ death. She was a delightful woman.
Frances was our neighbor at Lockhaven Apartments for 3 years. She lived one floor above us. She was a lovely neighbor; always cheerful. We have good memories of our few years of acquaintance. Denise fondly remembers Frances’ “washing day”; we would chat in the laundry room as she hung her dearest items on a drying rack. Frances also attended the annual BBQ and Christmas party at the apartments. She talked avidly with other residents, enjoyed the food and had a good time. People liked Frances.
Frances was clearly a Northwest native. She was never detoured by the weather. We often saw her heading for an event at the senior center dressed in hiking shorts, good walking shoes, a rain hat and jacket. A downpour was no excuse to stay home. Frances clearly had the drive to keep on with life.
In many ways Frances reminded us of Denise’s mother. We later found out that Frances was born one day after Denise’s mother. Both avid genealogists, both strong and resilient women, perhaps made that way by the times in which they lived.
We are thankful to have known Frances. She showed us how to live a long life with grace and fortitude. We are grateful for what she taught us.
Take comfort in your fond memories and know that Frances is at peace now.
In sympathy,
Earl and Denise Ecklund

Frances was a beautiful person. I knew her 55-60 years ago when we were young and full of fun. About 10 years ago I ran into her again in Ballard, and we enjoyed a few lunches together at Ivar's. May God bless her and hold her in the palm of His hand.

How blessed Frances has been to have such committed and loving family members such as her cousin Tom, here in Olympia. My thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones she leaves behind. Frances' spirit is now free to soar, no longer is she confined by the limits of her body.
