Obituary of Vera Lynn Nordahl

A free spirit is now truly free. Vera Lynn Nordahl, 63, died at home on September 7, 2004 of cancer. She was born October 27, 1940, to Herbert and Elitabel Kittle, in Stephenville, Texas. She was a member of the pioneer Montgomery family of Texas. She graduated from Santa Rosa High School in Santa Rosa, California, and had bachelor degrees from San Francisco State College and Cal State Sonoma. She is survived by her husband Terence Nordahl and several cousins in California and Texas whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her former husband James Landa in 1984. She had an outlook and exuberance that allowed her to live life to the fullest. Those who knew her were in awe of her energy and spirit. Everyone she met was considered a friend. Her working life was mainly as a teacher and as an LPN, however she had great artistic talents especially in music and dance. She used these talents in musical comedy productions for many years. Vera had multiple other occupations and each task was attacked with enthusiasm, organization, and verve. She truly enjoyed her contact with students, patients, co-workers, and all people she met. She had the gift of gab and loved to be on center stage. Her light was brilliant and we are all dimmed by loosing her. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2004 at United First Methodist Church of Olympia, 1224 Legion Way S.E., Olympia. Donations may be made to Providence SoundHomeCare and Hospice, P.O. Box 5008, Olympia, Washington, 98509, or the charity of your choice.
