I have a note that Vera gave me...it is an interpretation of a dream I had several years ago... Vera and I walking along an ocean beach at dusk. I still remember and treasure this dream and the interpretation that her husband wrote was of friendship and peacefulness. This is how I will always remember Vera.

I was a student of Mrs. Eagle (Vera) in 1971. She recently sent me a postcard asking how I was doing. She was one of my favorite teachers of all time. I was recently telling my own children about my wonderful experiences in Mrs. Eagle's sixth grade class. She introduced me to a world of music and dance that I will always remember.

I met Vera and Terry several times visiting my Open Houses when I was in the real estate business. Both Terry and Vera were considerate people which I always enjoyed seeing. Even though Vera was in pain at the time, she had a positive outlook. Thanks Terry for bringing Vera by so that I could meet her.

Vera,
I am so very glad I came to visit you when I did a few weeks ago. I didn't know it would be the last time I would ever see you again. I have enjoyed being your friend and will miss the good talks we had. I know you are in a better place so I will keep your memory alive by being grateful to have known you.
Your friend,
Collette Masias

I feel fortunate to have worked with Vera at Black Hills High School and counted Vera as a friend. She was a wonderful spirit and always brightened my day by her concern for students, her sense of humor, and cheery outlook on life. All the while that she was asking how I was doing, how my family was, - I had no idea that she was battling cancer.
I am so glad that I knew Vera - my one regret is that I did not get to say goodbye these past months, but perhaps there is a part of her spirit that I will be able to hold on to.

Vera was one of the first neighbors we met at Carlyon Beach when we moved here from Germany. Her warmth and welcome brightened our transition and made us feel at home. Her dedication to youth was readily apparent in her acceptance of our then preteen and teenage children. She had a true gift for communicating and making everyone feel at ease, and her enthusiasm and selfless giving was always inspiring as she voluntarily took on projects and befriended people. We will miss her light, but feel truly blessed for having had the pleasure of knowing Vera. Her life was truly one to be fondly remembered. We can only hope that when it is our time to leave this Earth, our contributions will be as heartfelt and meaningful as Vera's time here has been.

Vera left an after glow at Tumwater Middle School when she moved on. She gave so much of herself that I will always see her smile, hear her laugh, feel her love for all in our staff room. Her compassion for all humans was incredible. I am so glad our paths crossed, but saddened to know they will not cross again at TMS.

We worked together a short time at TMS, but I could always count on smiling an laughing when I stopped to see her, or seek her out for those very reasons. She gave so much of herself to all she touched. I read a quote saying, "what do we live for if not to make the world less difficult for each other?" That is how I will remember Vera. Making my world less difficult and more full of life and love.

I met Vera a few years ago when she was working to enrich the lives of Tumwater students. She and I had graduated from the same high school so had lots to chat about. She nic-named me her "California Girl". We enjoyed uplifting conversation each time our paths crossed. Vera was a bright light and was always inspiring and encouraging in everything she did and said. I am truely sad to hear our paths will not cross here again. I am touched that I had an opportunity to have met and knew her.
Vera, I will always remember you, and smile....
