Obituary of Sandra Nokleby

No visitation Sandra “Sandy” Nokleby Sandy Nokleby peacefully crossed-over in the company of her loving family at home on August 10. Her bravery in the face of a debilitating illness was an inspiration to all. Throughout her treatments she left everyone in awe, including her physicians, as she tirelessly jumped on a plane bound for somewhere almost weekly to watch her daughter play softball and attend her son's college graduation. She faced her cancer with courage, grace and a sense of humor. Her warmth, kindness and caring spirit will be deeply missed. Sandy also loved to take spontaneous “road trips” to wherever without any planning, just jump in the car and Go! She particularly loved women’s fastpitch softball at which her daughter Chelsey excelled. She traveled all over the United States coordinating the teams travel plans, excursions, meals and whatever else needed to get done. She patched up hurt players and was always there to give a hug when it was needed. She was a favorite among the players who always called her “Mom” on and off the field. She volunteered for many school functions including stage manager for her daughter's school plays, and put in many long hours and nights with the River Ridge Booster Club. She worked everyday along side her husband of 27 years managing the office of their insurance brokerage. She is survived by her husband Scott, the love of her life; her children, Austin and Chelsey; her parents, Gerald & Gay Honea; her sister, Terry Dethrow; brother, Justin Honea; and nieces, Jade and Sage. We want to thank her medical providers including Dr. Edward Lin of Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Dr. Tom Duncan of Tumwater Family Practice Clinic, the staff at Providence Hospice for making Sandy’s last days comfortable, and the pharmacy staff at the Safeway at Carpenter Road. Memorial services are Friday, August 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the new Masonic Center, 455 North Street S.E. in Tumwater. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make contributions to Providence SoundHomeCare and Hospice, P.O. Box 5008, Lacey, Washington, 98509 or Albertson College of Idaho Women’s Softball Team.
