Obituary of James H. Meadors

James H. Meadors “Jim” James Howard Meadors, 72, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Providence Mother Joseph Care Center after a four year battle with cancer. He was born on November 13, 1934 in Drumwright, Oklahoma to Bill and Velva (Smith) Meadors. He went to various schools in Oklahoma and California. From 1957 to 1972, he was a member of the United States Army, serving in France, Germany and Vietnam. Jim married Dorothy (Dalebout) Elliott on July 18, 1985 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Following his military service he managed five service stations for Maxwell Oil Company in Olympia and Centralia. He drove tow trucks for four years and was a delivery driver for Napa Auto Parts Store. He retired in October 1996. He was a life member of the VFW Post #318. Jim enjoyed his retirement years playing music at various places, feeding the raccoons and other wild animals. Jim loved his grandchildren, his family and many friends. Jim is survived by his supportive and devoted wife Dorothy; mother, Velva; son, Phillip; daughter, Patricia; stepsons, Roger (Kim) Elliott, Alan (Jodi) Elliott; brothers, John, Gary; sisters, Judy, Trudy; six grandchildren, aunts, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill, and a sister, Glena. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW Post # 318 on Martin Way in Olympia. A potluck will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 2902 ½ Martin Way E., Olympia, WA 98506, Attn: Jim Meadors Memorial Fund to purchase a PA sound system for the VFW Post.
