Dorothy,
I just wanted to let you know how much we will both miss Uncle Jim. He was a great man with a great and positive outlook on life. He kept up his battle for so long and you both did everything you could to keep him healthy as long as possible.
I am so happy I got to re-know Uncle Jim much more these last five years. Jim's character and booming voice were almost too intimidating for me when I was a young kid.
He was the first person who ever threatened to put a "can of whoop ass on me", but I learned quickly that he was just a gentle giant who truly loved his family, his friends, and his music.
I'm glad to see that you put together the memorial fund for the amplifier system for the VFW. Jim would be very proud of being able to give to the people who loved him and were lucky enough to hear him play his music. I can still remember him singing "Okie from Muskogee" only every time he'd sing it to us kids, he'd change the line to "like the hippie's up in Washingtonie do".
We will miss Uncle Jim and we are so fortunate to have you as our Aunt Dorothy. We love you both very much.

Aunt Dorothy, we admire your strength and great love for Uncle Jim! He was truly blessed to have you by his side. He told me several times that he really loved and appreciated all that you did for him. Even at his sickest times, he was worried about how YOU were holding up. That shows what a wonderful, caring man he was. We will truly miss the uncle we lovingly called "Big Jim." His big heart, big smile, and big wonderful voice will be a lasting memory for all of us. Love you!
