Obituary of Keith McDonald

Keith Edward McDonald died January 12, 2008 at Roo-Lan Health Care Center after a two and one-half year battle with cancer. He was born August 27, 1939 to Evelyn and Edward McDonald and lived in the Olympia area all his life. He graduated from Olympia High School in 1957 and this past summer enjoyed reconnecting with friends at his 50 th reunion.He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy, and his sons, Scott of Seattle, and David (and Hope) of Lacey. He leaves behind five grandchildren, Rachel, Alec, Alyssa, Ryan, and Lucas and his father, Edward. His mother preceded him in death in 2003. Keith served two years in the United State Navy in Hawaii. He worked at the Olympia Brewery for 29 years, retiring in 1994. He was an active volunteer in his adult life and as a retiree. He was a volunteer firefighter, EMT, and Fire District Commissioner in District 6. He also served as Captain of the Thurston County Jeep Patrol for many years. He treasured the friendships he developed in both of these organizations. He was able to spend a few winters in Arizona with his dog, Joy, enjoying the sunshine. He loved the outdoors, was a life-long motorcycle rider. He loved animals and supported animal rescue organizations. He requested that memorial donations be made to Best Friends.Org or another animal rescue charity. The family wishes to thank the staff at Roo-Lan for their wonderful care during Keith's last two and one-half months, and also the special care by staff and volunteers from Hospice. Keith has requested that no service be held.
