We wanted to thank the family for all of the thought and care that went into the memorial service for Irene. From the children's cards to the stunning flowers, the deeply moving media tribute, Jeannine's tender piano solo, and the thoughtful Buddhist teachings; all combined to make an experience that was truly transformative.
We are imagining that "Jisen" will be watching out for her granddaughter with a "spring of compassion".
You have done Irene proud. We have walked away with deep respect for the love of her family and determined to live each moment more fully and consciously.
Thank for you for all that you have shared of yourselves and for sharing Irene with us.
with love,
Lucy and Andy

Nathan and Sarah, who are both in high school now, each spent two years in Irene's Gen Y classes. The classes were a wonderful opportunity and they remember Irene fondly. Today's memorial service was lovely and touching. Thank you for opening it up to the L.P. Brown community.

Dear Jeannine and family,
I am so sad to hear of Irene's passing. From the Westside Coop to LP Brown, and throughout my growing up in Olympia, she was always so calm, sweet, caring and supportive. I'm sorry I won't be able to make it to the memorial service. I think having it at LP Brown is a great way to remember your mom. Please know that I am thinking of your family and hoping that your memories bring you peace.

To all of the Masumoto family,
I am so sorry and saddened to learn of Irene's death. Craig, Sarah, and I are with family in the Midwest and will not be home in time for the memorial at L.P. Brown this week; but we will be thinking of Irene and of you all. I have warm memories of so many shared conversations, grabbed at your house when I dropped the kids for the best babysitting, at the pre-school or ballet studio, during soccer games, in the grocery, or wherever we chanced to connect. Irene was one of the special members in my treasured network of child-rearing friends. I will remember her with much affection. Take care.

We were deeply saddened to read of Irene's passing. She was a gem and we were very fortunate to have worked, laughed and shared PTA moments together. She brightened our day whenever we met. In your own time, in your own way, may you find a place of healing in your heart. Peace.

To Irene's family, we send our deepest condolences. Irene provided us with years of tech support, always with calm, patient, positive demeanor. She was instrumental in bringing our school library systems into the modern era, eleven years ago, when she and her "crew" of students converted our collections and thus began our automated system. Irene supported us as we learned and adapted to our new technologies. Her confidence helped build our confidence. We will always be grateful. May you be comforted in knowing that she gave so much to others, a great legacy of her compassion and professionalism.

Ted, although I did not know Irene, I felt that she was a kindred spirit. After all, she had to put up with you for over 40 years while I have had to "put up with you" for only 30 plus years.
Seriously, I know that Irene's passing is a real blow for you and will be for some time to come. My heart goes out to you and your family and I was serious about calling on me and Richard if you ever need anything.
