Obituary of Gene F. Marelius

Gene F. Marelius Gene, 58, of Olympia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, who loved him very much on September 29th, 2007 at 7:00pm after a 5 year battle with early onset Alzheimer’s. Gene was born December 1st, 1948 in Olympia Washington to Eugene Sr. and Marvel Marelius. He was a graduate of Olympia High School in 1967. He was honorably discharged as a Squad Leader from the Army National Guard of Washington. Gene was a building contractor and land developer in Thurston County for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting in Montana, fishing in every river, and especially vacationing with his family and friends. He was preceded in death in 2001 by his wife GayLynne Marelius. He is survived by his parents, Gene and Marvel Marelius, three daughters, Dena and Kelley Thompson, Leslie Aschenbrenner and Ashley Marelius, five grandchildren, Brodey, Kodey, Mia, Taylor and Chandler, and sisters Chad and Sherry Kerrihard. Please join us at a Memorial Service and reception to celebrate his life at 1pm Sunday October 7 at the new Masonic Center, 455 North St SE, Tumwater.
