Edith W. Longman
Edith May Ware Longman, 77, a 17-year resident of Lacey and Olympia, died of heart failure on Saturday, December 16, 2006, at Providence St. Peter Hospital. She was born on May 10, 1929, to Robert C. and Opal M. (Fox) Ware in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Kiser High School in 1946 and Miami-Jacobs College in 1947.
Edith married Robert A. Longman on June 10, 1950, in Central Presbyterian Church in Dayton. The Longmans lived in Petoskey, Michigan, from 1960 to 1989 and moved to the Olympia area in 1989.
Edith was a secretary with the Michigan State University Cooperative Extension Service until retirement in 1981. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, mushrooming, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Longman Jr. of Olympia and Dave Longman of Petoskey, Michigan; her grandsons, Caleb Longman of Columbus, Ohio, and Daniel Longman of Petoskey, Michigan; a brother, Doyle Ware of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Barrett of Aurora, Indiana; three nieces and seven nephews. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Longman Sr; a son, Gary Lee Longman; and a sister, Lois Nelson.
