Obituary of Carol Livingston

Carol Livingston, 56, a resident of Olympia since 1987, died at her home on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 7, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois to Jim and Lorraine E. (Hovorka) Annis. Her family moved from Chicago to Charlevoix, Michigan when Carol was 10 years old. Carol graduated in 1967 from Charlevoix High School in Michigan, and was Salutatorian of her class. It was during this time she met her future husband, Bruce. The high school sweethearts married December 18, 1971 in Charlevoix, Michigan. Carol received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Western Michigan University in 1972. While attending Western she played clarinet in the Woodwind Quintet. Carol and her husband had also lived in Mount Pleasant and Alma, Michigan before moving to Olympia. She had worked as an Accounting Administrative Assistant with the Tumwater School District for 17 years. She had also worked for the Olympian and the Attorney General’s office. In younger years she was an avid fisherman and golfer. More recently she enjoyed quilting with her last two projects being Christmas gifts for her sons. She was a Master Gardener and was passionate about working outside in her garden, rain or shine. Carol leaves many friends throughout the Tumwater School District, neighbors, as well as friends in the Thurston County Master Gardener Program. They will all miss her friendly smile, sense of humor and conversations. Carol will live on in the hearts of husband, Bruce, sons, Seth of Seattle and Adam of Tempe, Arizona; sister, Susan Annis of Charlevoix and her father, Jim of Charlevoix. Her mother preceded her in death. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the WSU Master Gardener Program.
