Obituary of Jerry Lewis

Gerald (Jerry) Mack Lewis Jerry M. Lewis, 63, a 32 year resident of Olympia, died April 29, 2009. He was born April 3, 1946 in Ontonagon, Michigan to Ernest E. and Gladys (Gallion) Lewis. He attended Wm Miller High School and Centralia Jr. College. Jerry spent time in California and Colorado prior to moving back to Olympia. In 1963 he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Coast Guard. On July 26, 1975 in Carson City, Nevada, Jerry married Susan Eileen Snyder. During his forty plus years in the newspaper and printing industry, Jerry worked in production, service, sales, and management. He completed the I.T.U. Typographer Technician Apprenticeship while working at the Daily Olympian. In the 1970’s he worked for the Washington State Printing Plant. He was a field Service Engineer for Harris Corp. and then relocated to California where he was Production Systems Manager for the Palo Alto Times. Jerry joined Konica Imaging in May 1987 and was Western Regional District Manager at the time of his death. Jerry was highly respected amongst business associates as he was always willing to lend a helping hand. His work ethic placed him within an elite group of industry leaders. His drive for success was unparalleled, as were his story-telling abilities. He always had a good joke to share. Jerry had a love for old cars and antiques. He spent many hours with his son restoring their ’64 Chevrolet Impala. Jerry is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Scott M. Lewis; daughter, Jennifer L. Lewis and grandson, Kian. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Lewis. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Lacey Community Center, 6729 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey.
