Obituary of Violet May Lenhart

Violet May Lenhart, a long time Olympia resident, peacefully passed away October 30, 2007. Vi was born December 7, 1919 in New Westminster, B.C. to William and Margaret (Hamilton) McCormack. She worked 27 years as a bartender at the Spar in Olympia and for several years had been the president of the local Culinary Alliance & Bartenders Union. In 1987 she retired from the Wa St Dept of L&I as a safety inspector.Vi married Clarence West of Olympia in 1937, and then in 1960 she married George Lenhart. Until recently, Vi lived for many years at the Capitol City Golf Club Estates where she loved playing golf. In addition to golf she loved exercising and swimming at Tumwater Valley, bowling, playing cards, traveling and hosting parties for friends and family. She is especially remembered by everyone for her passion of giving Saint Patrick’s Day parties. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Margaret Mix, her husband George, her brother Roy McCormack and her daughter Dixie Nelson. She is survived by her daughters; Jerry West-Sanders (Richard) of Olympia, Brenda Zielin (Ronald) of Olympia and Lenda Sundene (Richard) of Issaquah; as well as nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank her many friends and caregivers for their love and support these last few years. A celebration of life and reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday November 12, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 21st and Franklin St, Olympia.
