Dear Carolyn and all of Gene's extended family,
Gene has made it through the tumultuous seas of life, and we are sure he had more good times than bad, to the far shore, so remember, "The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad: let the distant shores rejoice (Psalm 97:1)

Papa Gene was the funest grandpa, I loved going boating with him, and wished I had gone more times. It's still a shock to me to know he's gone and that I wont see him anymore, but he was a good guy so I know he's in a good place. I was present when he passed and thats the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with, I've been lucky that I haven't had to deal with death until the age of 20, but it was so hard with it being my Papa Gene. I love and miss you so much Papa Gene I wish you were just down in FL and that was the only reason you weren't around right now. RIP Papa Gene

You will be missed as a husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and great grandfather. Also a great friend and host as we remember many great boat trips and visits to Florida and Seattle area. Rest in Peace!

Dan loved the high seas with you Gene. Bark your commands and Dan navigated the course set. Carolyn is the best galley cook and first mate. We loved your zest and enjoyment for life. Sail on Gene.

We are very sorry to hear of Gene's passing. We were in the northwoods of Wisconsin without internet and just found out today. Our deepest sympathys to ALL of his extended family and, of course, to our friend Carolyn.
We had many fun years with Gene and Carolyn at Boardwalk Caper in Florida and boating together. He had a full life and many tough health issues for quite a few years, but we are still shocked to hear of his death.
May God bless all of you in your time of sorrow and also in the celebration of his life.
