Obituary of Mary-Margaret Elizabeth Howden

Mary-Margaret Elizabeth Howden Oct. 7, 1920-May 31, 2007 Mary-Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Howden passed away peacefully on May 31, 2007. Betty was born in Victoria, B.C., Canada, to George and Genevieve Brady on October 7, 1920. Betty was married April 12, 1941 to Mervin Howden, who was stationed at the RCAF base. Betty and Merv settled in Olympia in 1959. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Merv and her brother Bill. She is survived by her four sons, William (Susie), Robert (Joan), George Murray and John (Sue) and one daughter, Genevieve Agopsowicz (Mark); 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Betty had a passion for gardening and arts and crafts. On a sunny day you could always find Betty tending to her flowers, and feeding various wildlife; such as seagulls, raccoons and the occasional pesky possum. She enjoyed canoeing on the bay and feeling the sun smile on her face. She always bragged about paddling her own canoe. Betty will always be remembered for her wit, charm and friendly smile. Betty loved spending time with her family, whether it was a holiday gathering, vacation or a trip to the garden store. She volunteered with the Guild at St. Michaels for various Church events. We’ll miss you mom, grandma, nana and friend. A Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 6 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Michaels Church. The family would like any memorial donations made to St. Michaels Church.
