Obituary of Joan Kathleen Howden

Joan Howden Joan Howden was born to John Stuart and Mabel Irene Davenport on June 20, 1946. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 21, 2007 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Joan was a lifelong Olympia resident. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Joan is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert; sons, Brady and Tighe; daughter-in- law, Kendall; grandson, Colby; brothers, Rich and Mark Davenport; sister-in-law, Jean Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from Tumwater High School in 1964. Joan received a Master's degree in Music from the Western Baptist Bible College. Joan also earned a degree in Education. She was a music teacher at East Olympia Elementary, a secretary for the Tumwater First Baptist Church, and, recently, a secretary for the Educational Services District #113. Joan had a passion for music. She will be remembered for her talented piano playing and beautiful voice. Joan used her musical abilities to serve the Lord. Joan played the piano at Tumwater First Baptist Church for many years. She also directed the choir and special music programs and sang during church services. In addition, Joan taught piano to students. Joan loved spending time with her family. Vacations and family events were priorities in her life. Joan devoted much of her life to serving the Lord. This was evident through her music ministry and mission trip to the country of Romania. Please join the family for a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at Westwood Baptist Church in Olympia. The family would like any memorial donations to be made to the Westwood Baptist Church in Olympia.
