So glad I had opportunity talking with you Bob via phone.
Have tried a couple times since. Have really been burdened for you as I know exactly what you are going through. And through it all have learned as never before to trust in Jesus and lean heavily on Him. And He never fails,. My prayers are with you in these days and nights as you just must pick up the pieces and do what Joan would want you to do. And in the meantime have the assurance and confidence of meeting again where there is no pain, sorrow as the former things will ghave passed by...Please keep in touch.
"Christ has made a starlit pathway between the goodbyes of yesterday and the reunion of tomorrow. What a grand reunion when Florence and Joan met face to face in that land where the roses never fade.... I started this..Had to answer phone and have last first part of message...Sorry but am trying Love in Christ,CWW

This is certainly sad. Joan and I sang together quite a few times at the church and spent some goofy sleep overs too. I always admired her poise. She will be missed but I KNOW she is part of a much bigger choir now!
Sincerely,
Wendy

Being a co-worker at ESD113 I will always remember her great SMILE. As we for the most part talked about mustangs and how her son had a passion for. The real muscle car!
You will be missed very much! God Bless you

Joan set her sights on higher things, she walked the walk and is now receiving her reward in The Loving Arms of Jesus. Not long ago Joan and I had the opportunity to talk about her illness and her life, she told me she was ready to meet the Lord but to pray that her family was ready as well. That has been my prayer and still is, God bless Joan's family and give them comfort in knowing that Joan is finally home. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

I feel so blessed to have known Joan for the time that I had. Although I did not know her for long, she has impacted my life. It was the little things that Joan did that left a mark on my life. Her bright smile, a quick how was your day. Whenever someone takes the time to truly ask about you, even if you are not very close to them, you become connected. I know that she was greeted in heaven by our Father saying: "well done, my good and faithful servant" her life has touched so many. I never heard Joan play the piano, but I can imagine how beautiful that must sound, and I cannot wait until we are reunited in heaven and we can all sing praises to our heavenly Father. Oh what a day that will be! I will be continually praying for the Howden family, as I know that this must be a difficult time, I am thankful to the Lord that we will be with her again.

Sincerest condolences to Joan's entire family.
Have the fondest memories of Joan from early elementary school all through high school. She was the most shy person in elementary school; remembered her turning a real bright red any time she had to speak in class. She was the sweetest and nicest person I remembered from my school years and what an accomplished musician.
It was great to visit with Bob and Joan during our 40th high school reunion in 2004.
Joan will be sincerely missed by all her classmates!

Dear Bob, Brady & Tighe,
We are so very sad for your loss. Joan was always such a joy in our own lives. Gary and I enjoyed the times spent on YBF trips with you. We realize no words can make this any better, but we do rejoice in knowing that Joan is with her Savior and we are sure she is full of joy and singing in a Heavenly Choir.
Love and prayers, Gary and Ranada

I am deeply saddened to hear about Joan losing her battle to ovarian cancer. For four years, Joan brightened my day at the esd as hers was one of the first faces I would see as I walked in to my desk. She always had a smile and time to inquire about me and my family. I will be forever grateful to Joan for allowing my friend that was also diagnosed with ovarian cancer this summer to call and talk about what she was facing. Even though Joan's own battle was not going well, she took the time to comfort and encourage my friend. This was just the type of woman that I knew Joan to be. Her strength and faith were evident in all that she did. She will be greatly missed by all those that were fortunate enough to have know her.

To the Howden family we send our deepest thoughts and prayers. I just loved the times I was able to visit and talk with Joan when the boys were in high school and when she worked at ESD. Joan loved her boys with all her heart just as we loved ours. Moms who have sons have a special bond and I always felt that way with Joan. Joan was the kindest most caring person, an walking angel on earth, and anyone could figure that out the minute they met her.We love you guys so much and know that God is with you each step of the way "right now especially". Please know we care, we love you, and we will continue to keep you in prayer.

We would like to express our heart felt condolences to the Howden family. We have appreciated Joan's friendship and blessed by her gift of music. Her love for the Lord was demonstrated by the love for her family, encouraging others, and faithful service. We will not forget the beautiful piano offatories, special music, and cantadas that she directed at First Baptist Church of Tumwater. We love you all and will remember you in our prayers.
