Obituary of Everett Herron

11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Mon June 13, 2005 St. Michael Catholic Church Everett Herron, 84, a 14 year resident of Olympia, died Thursday, June 9, 2005 of Congestive Heart Failure. He was born August 23, 1920 in Seattle to Everett Sr. and Mary (Clark) Herron. He graduated from O’Dea High School. He served with the 28th CB’s during World War II from August 1942 to February 1946, in the Reserves from February 1946 to August 1950, and in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from August 1950 to August 1951. On May 14, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bellevue, Washington, Everett married the former Erin Hanley who survives. Everett worked for the U.S. Post Office in Seattle from March 1946 to August 1975 and then with the U.S. Bank from August 1975 to September 1985. Prior to living in Olympia, he lived in Seattle from 1920 to 1985 then in Shelton from 1985 to 1991. He enjoyed family and friends and had interests in stamps and traveling. He held memberships in Holy Rosary in West Seattle, St. Mike's in Olympia, and VFW Post Office Union Branch 79. Everett is survived by his wife, Erin; four sons, Michael, Daniel, Terrence, and Spencer Matte; two daughters, Maureen McNamara and Teresa Chaney; his sister, Mary Abernethy; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and James. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2005 at St. Joseph Chapel at St. Michael Parish, 1021 Boundary St. SE. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 13, 2005 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1021 Boundary St. S.E., Olympia. Committal services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Tumwater following the funeral service. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Christian Brothers Development Office, P.O.
