Artesia swim and water polo coach Earthman posted a condolence
Sunday, May 20, 2012
Glenn swam and played water polo for me at Artesia High School. He was a very tough competitor. Once his arm cramped during a water polo game and no one knew it until half time. I asked him why he did not tell me and his answer was "I did not want the man I was guarding to know. He jumped out soaked the arm in hot water and played the rest of the game. During early year swim workout he used to jump out run to locker throw up and come back to finish workout.
I am sure all who knew him will miss him.

I realize this is very late, however I worked with Glenn at SMC back in 2006 and I have NEVER met anyone as honest or with as much integrity as he had. He was a model for me and I respected him a great deal. I am so terribly sorry for your loss.

I met Glenn when he began coaching the Saddleback Valley Aquatics swim team in Mission Viejo, CA in the mid 1970s. He was an excellent coach and mentor. I have fond memories of workouts, swim meets, and the stories he used to tell. I remember well when he left coaching to pursue law school. I have never forgotten him and was saddened to hear of his passing.

I worked with Glenn at the Muni Court and am sorry to here of his passing. One thing I will always remember is how fondly he spoke of his family...his children and his wife. He shared many stories of his kids growing up and always kept me up-to-date of their many triumphs in school and in sports. He was so proud of his family.
Peace to you during this hard time.

I am the receptionist at the Attorney General's Office and although it has been some years since I last saw Glenn, he's one you don't forget.
He always took the time for a quick conversation to see how you were and let kyou know what he was doing. So many will miss that warm, friendly connection.

Michelle, Shannon, Stevie and Robert: I bake a mean apple pie, Morgan has pretty strong shoulders to lean on, my mom is the best hugger around, and my dad operates a corkscrew better than anyone else I know. In the hearts of those with whom he shared his passion for life Mr. Harvey is, and will always be a legend. I've just come back to visit for a few days, so we're all here, and only a short walk/drive down the road. From one gang to another, please let us know if there is anything at all that we can do to provide help and support. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I first met Glenn when I interviewed for a legal secretary position with the DNR Division of the AGO in 1992. I knew I had the job because immediately after the interview Glenn met me at the elevator to shake my hand and thank me for applying. I received and accepted the job offer the next day! I worked with Glenn as his legal assistant until he left for the Labor & Personnel Division. I really enjoyed working on the personnel issues because Glenn made it so much fun. We were a great team. He used to sit in my work station eating red licorice and telling me about the newest case. I also remember him telling me how stressful trial was for him. At the time, he was involved with the Oregon Sea Harvest case. As I passed by his office, I would see him hunched over his desk talking on the phone giving advice to one of our clients while working the yo-yo he kept on his desk! Glenn also gave me financial advice too by suggesting that I contribute to the Deferred Comp Program just as soon as I could. After a couple of years passed, I was promoted to a Paralegal 2 position with our division and I would occasionally run into Glenn at the AGO Library while researching cases. At one point I was not enjoying all of the legal research assignments I was receiving but he encouraged me to stick with it for a year because it would become easier. He was right! Glenn was a kind man who loved to share a lot of stories about his life and loved to tell a joke or two. He really knew how to put fun into our workday. He often times spoke about his family and it was obvious they came first. Golly, there's just not enough space here for me to list all the things I remember about Glenn. He really was a nice guy and I'm so happy to have met him.

I worked with Glenn for over three years at the Administrative Office of the Courts. I was stunned when I learned of his death at such a tragically young age.
There were so many notable things about Glenn-
• He wore a suit and tie, with suspenders, four days of every work week, on “casual Friday” he dressed down to a level no one else had reached on their dressiest day that week
• His enormous laugh
• His conservative politics which he steadfastly defended in an office full of liberal attorneys, of which I was one
• His sense of irony
• How he relished exposing hypocrisy
• His willingness to speak his mind—you always knew for certain where Glenn stood on an issue
• His curiosity and his quest to never stop learning
• His common sense approach to the law which our profession often lacks
• His temper which he mostly successfully suppressed
• His outrage at unfair treatment of the defenseless
• His interest in the financial markets and a wish some day to become a financial planner
• His love of dogs
• His hearty appetite and his view that it bordered on the criminal the way most people cooked food
• How kind he could be, which he tried, futilely, to conceal
• Most notable of all, his unbridled love of his children and the enormous pride he had for each of them.
My condolences to Glenn’s family and all who loved him for the void his loss leaves. I feel privileged I got to know him.

To Michelle and Family: - Glenn mentored me into the AG's office and took on that challenge with great humor and patience. My memories of Glenn are so vivid: feeling terrible when he caused bodily injury to Mary Fairhurst in a racquetball match; devasted beyond consolation when Magic announced he had aids; and talking with such love about all of you. He lived large, with love and unrestrained enthusiasm for whatever challenge he faced. I am so sorry for your loss. Carole
