The third floor nursing staff provided Dad with excellent care and dignity in his courageous battle with Leukemia. Ken was born to Ottis and Mabel Hargett on February 4, 1935, in Tuscumbia, Alabama. He married Naomi Rodgers in October of 1959. But this is not where their life journey began. Ken and Naomi began their journey in first grade where they were each others first sweethearts. He rejoined the Ironworkers Union Local 114 in 1962, where he worked until retirement in 1997. After retirement, Ken & Naomi traveled in their motor home until 2007. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Ottis King Hargett and Mabel Hargett, his brother Bobby Hargett (Sue) of Memphis, brother James Hargett of Olympia and sister Patsy McCarthy of Lacey. We are his family and his legacy and continue to pass on his lessons of family, faith, loyalty and love to his future generations. Only then will he always truly be with us. Ken lived well, laughed often and loved much. Dad was also much loved in return! A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Masonic Center, 455 North Street SE, Tumwater, WA 98501.
