I taught in the School of Education at PLU during the time that Anna was an Administrative Assistant there and always enjoyed and appreciated her positive outlook and kindnesses. For years after her retirement I used to run into her at Fred Meyer when she and I shopped at the same time. Just recently while shopping I thought of Anna and realized that I had not seen her for quite a while and I missed catching up with her. She was a woman whose smile and kindness made a difference in the world. Sola deo Gloria.

As a childhood friend of one of Anna’s sons, Dan, I always admired and enjoyed being welcomed into the Holm’s house on East F. Dan and I spent spent many fun times “terrorising” the McKinley Hill neighborhood with our other friends like Jim Nerland. Anna would alway look with a suspicious but understanding expression after our adventures. Peace and God’s love to her family.

I have very fond memories of Mrs Holm from growing up with her kids on East F Street in Tacoma. I remember trips to the lake and to a drive in theater with her and her family. She along with other neighborhood mothers made sure us neighborhood children were safe and stayed out of trouble. I have nothing but fond memories of her and her family.

I was saddened to see Anna’s name in the obituaries this morning. Many times I had thought of her, even driving around the area where I thought she had lived on the East side of Tacoma. I could never exactly remember, as it was my mother, Dorothy, who drove us there. I’ve unfortunately lost track of the Erkers side of the family since Mama’s death in 1975. I do remember the lovely home that was built near her home. I recall it having such a quaint feeling about it. Something that grips my heart to this day. Please except my deepest sympathy to you all. I remember her as a sweet, lovely lady, surely someone who will be missed, but remembered always.

She was the best mother-in-law and I’ve always said if she had been the first, the title of mother-in-law wouldn’t have such a bad reputation. I miss you Anna.

Anna was a beautiful woman, both inside and out.
She was a loyal friend and loved to hear about what was going on in your life….never complaining of anything or saying much about herself.
Anna always wanted to hear about the young ones in our family…what they were doing and how they were doing. She would even mail cookies to them for their birthday and they loved it.
Her peanut brittle was the best I ever ate.
When her daughter and our son met and married, Anna embraced all of us as family and we embraced her back. We all loved her very much.

Anna was a wonderful mother-in-law and friend. Very special woman that would listen so intently and if asked, give her opinion or advise. Probably the sweetest woman I have ever met. She will always be in my memories and heart, loved for ever.
