Obituary of Kenneth L. Goody

In Loving Memory of Kenneth L. Goody Jr. Kenneth L Goody Jr., 62, passed away suddenly on September 1, 2009 after a brief illness. He was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Ken was born on November 25, 1946, in Longview WA. He graduated from Kelso High School in 1965 and Lower Columbia Community College in 1968 with a degree in data processing. He married Barbara Jean DeNardo on April 12, 1969 and raised two children, Brian and Abby in Olympia, Washington. Ken worked as an Information Technology Manager with the Department of Revenue. He retired in July 2001 after 32 years of State Service. Ken was an avid collector of memorabilia such as Texaco trucks, anything Star Trek, and model sail boats. He loved spending time with his family, and adored his four grandsons and working on the never ending “Honey Do” list that Barb gave him. Some of his other hobbies included raising orchids, woodworking, and playing on a league volleyball team. Ken enjoyed the holidays with his family, decorating the house and tree at Christmas. Ken and Barb loved vacationing in Hawaii and spending time with family in Seaside, Oregon. Ken and Barb could be found most Wednesdays at Red Wind Casino where they enjoyed breakfast and fun with friends. Ken also enjoyed playing cards with friends and having coffee with his “coffee buddies”. Ken is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara; son, Brian Goody; daughter, Abby Gilliland (Sean); his four grandsons, Justin, Connor, Tyler, and Dylan; brother, John (Maria). He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth L. Goody Sr. and Maxine E. Goody. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 – 4:30 pm on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Olympia Center Room A at 222 Columbia St NW, in Olympia WA.
