Judy Finley

Obituary of Judy Finley

Judy Finley Nira Judith Finley, 75, of Lacey, WA passed away on June 29, 2009, to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on February 10, 1934, in Abilene, TX, to Joseph and Lilly Vojkufka. After attending schools in Ontario, CA, Judy married William Darrell Finley of San Antonio, TX in 1954. They resided in Riverside, CA and had three children. In 1970, the family moved to Washington State and lived in the Naches area for over 25 years. Judy and Darrell built a home in Cinebar, WA in 1995 and lived there until they moved to Lacey, WA in 2008. Judy’s love of the outdoors and especially for Mount Rainier was evident in her many trips to the mountains to have picnics, hikes, visit viewpoints, and take tons of pictures of her Mountain, explaining she didn’t have one from that angle. Judy and her family would make a yearly trek to the mountains to cut down their Christmas tree, many times picking one too large to fit through their front door. Judy was a Master Gardener and her love of flowers and gardening led her to a job at a local nursery. She filled her home with beautiful flowers – daffodils, dahlias, and chrysanthemums were some of her favorites. Surrounding her home were many special sunny, shady and secret gardens. Judy loved buying and selling antiques, collectibles and gifts and opened Judy’s Country Cottage. She worked hard, had grand and creative ideas and could accomplish anything she put her mind to. Her amazing talents and passions included singing in the church choir, sewing, making teddy bears and braided rugs, decorating her home, cooking and catering, going to and putting on garage sales, reading, and enjoying the warm sunshine. Judy lived her life for her family and friends. She was so generous and loved giving to people. She always threw parties for birthdays, anniversaries and organized get-togethers for holidays and family reunions. She was an incredible, loving mother, wife, sister, and grandmother who touched many lives around her. One of her most charming characteristics was her smile, which lit up the room and made you feel it was meant especially for you. Judy will be greatly missed by all. Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Darrell Finley; her three children, Mark (Doreen) Finley of Tacoma, WA, Russ Finley (Ray) of Portland, OR, and Samantha (Bill) Holmes of Bellevue, WA; her grandson, Andrew Finley; siblings, Gene Vojkufka, Betty Spiess, Rosemary Vojkufka, Frank Vojkufka and John (Connie) Vojkufka; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Jim and her sister Josephine. A memorial service for Judy will be held by her family on July 25, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at 120 Promise Lane, Pe Ell, WA 98572. For directions or questions please call 360-915-8833, or 425-891-5064.
