John W. Eisendrath, 91, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 11:20 a.m., Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia. John was born August 29, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois. He received his B.A. Degree in English Studies from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut. In October of 1946 John married Opie Lee (Pat) Briscoe and was remarried in April of 1986 to Pat Berkheimer.John had a lifelong passion for tennis and cherished his time on the courts. He and his first wife, Opie, fostered a love of tennis within their family which continues on with their grandchildren. Upon moving to Olympia, John joined The Valley Athletic Club, where his son, Briscoe, was the head tennis professional, and he enjoyed time, on and off the courts, with his tennis friends. In addition to John’s children and their families, John was very fond of his second wife, Pat’s extended family and shared in many memorable family events. John is survived by his sons, Briscoe (Wendy) Eisendrath of Olympia, WA, Richard (Diane) Eisendrath of Vista, CA, Dan Eisendrath of Oceanside, CA, and Robert (Cindy) Eisendrath of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter, Susan Eisendrath of Glunbia, MD; a brother, William (Elizabeth) Eisendrath; 11 Grandchildren; and 2 Great Grandchildren. John truly loved people and his warm, easygoing personality drew many friends. We all share one of John’s granddaughter’s sentiments, “Everything was just a little more fun when Grandpa was there.” And whenever possible, John was there for all the important family events. Our Lord has received an impressive tennis partner – more importantly a precious gem of a man,… a much loved father! You may leave memories and condolences by clicking on "View Guestbook" below.
