Obituary of Joyce Adele DuVal

Born Joyce Adele Halverson in Oakland, California to Alice and Orville Halverson. She attended Lincoln High School and once was the elevator operator for Rhodes department store down town Tacoma during World War Two. She married Terence Brian Rossiter in 1942. They lived in Tacoma where they raised four children, Richard, Lucille, Scott and Renee , all living. Her sister Dolores Hawkins died in 1997.The family moved to Steilacoom and lived there for many years. After divorce Joyce married Jerry DuVal in 1978. They lived in Purdy and divorced in 1987. She was a talented artist and had a studio where she painted and taught oil lessons and sold many of her beautiful paintings. Joyce has 6 grandchildren-Raoul Rossiter, Abel Zimmerman, Ivy Zimmerman, Ian Rossiter, Sean Rossiter, Erik Rossiter. There are two great grandchildren- Colette Zimmerman-Klapstien and Marisa Zimmerman-Raike. Joyce was a multi talented and beautiful woman. Besides her talent for art, she also was a exceptional cook, gardener and seamstress. She loved nature and sightseeing trips.
