Obituary of LeRoy Edward Dougherty

LeRoy Edward Dougherty LeRoy was born in Centralia, Washington, to Edward Morris “Bud” Dougherty and Glenna Lucille Stilson, and raised for many years by foster mother Betty Orr Pease. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Tacoma, Washington, prior to serving in the Navy where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 bronze stars, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with device. Over the years, he had a variety of hobbies that included handicapping the horse races, golfing, collecting baseball cards, fishing, and, of course, spending time with his children and grandchildren. Some of his most prized possessions have been the vehicles he has owned, especially his Chevy Camaro and his Dodge Challenger. LeRoy lived in several places throughout his lifetime, including Redondo Beach, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; and several locations in Oregon and Western Washington. His most recent residence was in Tumwater, Washington. He passed away on January 27, 2011, in Olympia, Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents, his foster mother, his half-sister Jackie Moore, his grandson Jonathan Jones,and his niece Jamie Moore. He is survived by his 3 children, Kellie Jones and her husband Richard Jones of Johnson City, TN; Clifford Dougherty of Lacey, WA; and Brenda Roman of Spanaway, WA; 5 grandchildren, Richard Jones Jr., Kayla Roman, Kristina Roman, Steven Roman, and Jessica Lovell; his sister Maxine Moore; several nieces and nephews: Betsy Moore, Jerry Moore, Ben Moore, Thomas Moore, Heidi Alberta, and Stacie Dahlin; and a lot of extended family and friends.
