What a beautiful and accurate description of Jacque! Of course, it brings tears to my eyes...those were our good old days! I have always had a special place in my heart for Jacque (as we all do) for her wonderful wacky and wise ways. But the special thing, for me, about Jacque, was that she was my mom's best friend. My mom said that they were better than sisters because, after all, you got to choose your friends! The things they did together were really amazing...each backing the other and laughing the whole time. I clearly remember one evening when my mom was really down...having gotten bad news from her doctor...my first thought was, "Jacque!" And I ran down the block (yes, across Mrs. Beckum's pristine lawn) to pound on Jacque's door. Of course, all I could do was cry when she opened it. After hugging me, she said, "Come on." Within minutes, the two friends were together...and Jacque was working her magic. Blessings to all of you! Sheila

Peggy, Maureen and Kevin,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. I have such vivid memories of your mom and dad from my childhood. The camping trips are so clear. What really stands out is the laughter and goofiness amongst friends. Now that I'm older than my mom and Jacque were in my
memories (how can that be?), I understand the true friendship they shared. They are, now, hanging out together looking for the next bargain.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this healing process.
Sincerely,
Noreen

Dear Maureen, Peggy, Kevin, and all the family,
I was so sad to hear of your mom's death. She was bigger than life! That's for sure! I remember her as being so organized -- and color-coordinated! My fondest memeory was on that camping trip in Pismo Beach -- she was so well prepared...and it was so much fun as a result. I also remember after school, she was always so helpful, she had lots of wonderful ideas. I can't imagine a more craetive mom. She will be missed. I am so happy for her, though, with your dad -- which is where she wanted to be. Love, Gigi

We loved hearing that Jim was waiting for Jacque to join him. They were a delightful couple - welcoming, friendly, bright, warm - and although not in the flesh they will live in your hearts and minds forever.
My fondest memory of your mom is my first, when - to really get to know her future son-in-law Allen - she arranged to spent a day with his big sister Anne (me) at our home in Arlington, Va. Our mother, Eleanor, had been dead for about 10 years and, because I was Allen's only sister, Jacque informed me that through knowing me she'd be able to judge Allen's suitability for her daughter Maureen. So, on this freezing, snowy January day Jacque arrived in their rental car after dropping Jim at a meeting downtown; she pulled out cozy slippers from her handbag, wrapped herself in an afghan, and made herself at home. I served lunch with my great-grandmother's china and grandmother's silver while she told me your family's stories. We am honored to know her and send you all our love.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful, moving, delightful "snapshots" of your mother, Jacque...There were so many remembrances you shared which made me smile &/or brought tears of understanding...Loved the stories of her love of red, her "bargain queen" adventures (and the forbearance of her children!). We were only with Jacque perhaps a dozen times over the years, but from the first to the last visit, she was always a pleasure and an intriguing, bright, unique, enchanting, powerful figure. I was glad I had the honor of knowing her. Blessings to your parents on their continued journey together, and to you all. All Love and good wishes -- SME

Dear Maureen, Peggy and Kevin and familes,
We send our heartfelt condolences to you now, at the passing of your beloved Mother and Grandmother. She was full of life, and it is hard to accept her passing. For this neice from Stockton, Aunt Jacque was F-U-N: fascinating, unusual and never dull! She always did the most remarkable things (like select a bright red stove for the kitchen or take the family on a caravan to Mexico for Christmas.) She was intelligent and entertaining; we loved her very much. At this difficult time, may you be comforted by all the love she had for her special family: you, her children, her sons-in-law and her grandchildren. She's with your Dad now, and their maker. XO Cath, John, Jackie and Jenna
