Obituary of William Dennis Brown

William Dennis (Bill) Brown, 60, passed away on November 18, 2007 after a long illness. Bill was a native of Parsons, Kansas. He attended St. Patrick’s Church and Schools, graduating from Parsons High School in 1965. He then attended Kansas State University, receiving a BS Degree in Civil Engineering in 1970. Bill moved to Seattle, WA to work for the State Department of Transportation, soon earning his Professional Engineering certification. He was married to Charlene Koeckritz for 19 years. Charlene preceded him in death, passing away in June of 2005.Bill worked proudly for the WA Department of Transportation as a professional engineer until the end of his career of 31 years. He was the State technical expert in the Signals, Illumination and Pavement Marking areas. He maintained an interest in history, genealogy, gardening, and billiards. He always planted his tomatoes upside-down. Billiards was his social pastime and he leaves behind many friends. Bill was the son of Robert and Jane Brown of Parsons, KS, who both preceded him in death. He is survived by his stepchildren, Dan Koeckritz of Eagle River, AK, and Maile Koeckritz of Vancouver, WA, both of whom he cared for in the manner of a loving father. He is also survived by siblings Barbara Hoskins-Los Angeles, CA, Debbie Evans-Greenwood, IN, Peggy Bradshaw-Independence, MO, David Brown-Parsons, KS, Sally Yarke-Sauk Centre, MN, Mary Watson-Bartlesville, OK, Tom Brown-Oakland, CA, and Bob Brown-Neodesha, KS. Bill is additionally survived by 14 nieces and nephews. We already miss you, Bill.
