Dear Maile & Dan,
We just found Bill's obituary - he was a really great neighbor to us for 14 years. I remember when we first got to know him, our car had stalled by the side of the road and he came out to help. He and Charlene, and then Bill alone, always remembered our little girl Victoria over the years with cards and a little package of coloring books or puzzles at Christmas, birthdays and Easter. Victoria was so excited when we helped watch kitties or Bailey on a few of their vacations. We had fun planning and then building the fence between our properties, and Bill put a cute birdhouse on one of the posts. When our son Jack was born in 2006 he cried a lot in the evenings, and we had the doors open in summer so I worried that the noise would bother Bill, but he said that he was the oldest of many children and hearing a baby cry was just fine, just like home. We always appreciated his quiet humor and thoughtfulness. Our family misses him. Please keep in touch.

We were so sorry to hear about Bill and our sincere sympathy goes out to all the family. We always enjoyed visiting with Bill at our family gatherings at Ocean Shores over the 4th of July. A year ago he brought a box of Charlene's hats to share with us all. I know he missed her so much, as we all do, and we were so touched by his sweet thoughtfulness. I had to smile just now as I read the obituary - about the way he always plants his tomatoes upside down. One time years ago when we visited Bill and Charlene at their house he showed Gary how he did that and it really made an impression. Every year since then Gary plants some of his tomatoes upside down exactly the way Bill showed him. And he always tells people where he learned that trick. Thanks Bill !! We will remember and miss him. Much love to Maile and Dan.

I worked with Bill for a few years at WSDOT in the early 80's. We had good times, and always enjoyed talking with him. My sympathy to his family. I am sure he has already got the signals in heave on track.

Maile and Dan,
I just read Bill's obituary this morning. I am terribly sorry to hear about his passing, as well as about your mom passing in 2005. Though it's been years, I have fond memories of both of them.
My family has been through a lot of loss over the years, so I can understand some of what you must be going through. I hope this message finds you doing well, despite the terrible circumstances.
My sincerest condolences to you and your families.
Maile, if you can, please keep in touch:
