Grace Brough

Obituary of Grace Brough

Grace Brough 5 March 1933 to 21 Jun 2007 Grace, born at home, was one of 12 children born to Daniel B. and Anna Landers. It was the year Franklin D. Roosevelt was inaugurated as President so that is why she has the middle name of the president’s wife. Grace has suffered from crippling Arthritis for over 20 years, more so in the last 7 years and on oxygen full time the last three years or so. Besides family, Grace enjoyed gardening more than anything and had to give that up about three years ago as well. Chuck, Grace’s husband for 54 years on the 14th of June 07 spent most of his working years, 38 in all in the military, while Grace kept the home fires burning, baby sat while others worked away from home. And was always a little angry when those she baby-sat for said things like, “You never had to work.” Grace suffered kidney failure in December of 2006 and was like as if being in a coma for several days. She missed Christmas and New Years for the first time in her life and has since suffered mild to sever memory loss and confusion. Grace decided on her own to go on Home Hospice Care, and was accepted on 4 April 2007. Just two months shy of her and Chuck’s 54th Wedding Anniversary. Grace and Chuck planned to redo their Wedding vows on 14 June, but Grace was too ill by then and died one week later in her sleep. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 7, 2007 at The Masonic Lodge, 521 North Street SE, Tumwater.
