I worked with Rick in the Office of Accounting Services at DSHS for a couple of years. He always had a joke at the ready, and never stopped smiling. And candy, he always had candy. "Bond, Rick Bond" the local James Bond in the black Camaro. :) I am very sorry to hear of his passing. I will remember him as a sweet man. He talked about his kids quite a bit, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I knew Rick for about nine years when I worked at DSHS Office of Financial Recovery. We shared many jokes and he always had a smile for anyone in the office. His family has my sympathy at this time with his untimely passing. Rest in peace Rick.

I met Rick 4 years ago. He was one of the most kind and caring individuals I have ever met. He made me laugh on a daily basis, and we shared a love of fast cars! When I purchased a 1999 Dodge Dakota Pickup with a V8 Rick came up to me and told me his Camaro could still beat me...The race was on =0)
I haven't seen Rick, except for driving around town, in the last 2 years. I will miss his smile, humor and his car.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

My thoughts are with his family now, and will be for some time. He was quite the character and I loved him. I’m going to keep most of the memories I have of Rick to myself. A lot of them make me smile, some make me kind of sad, and some still piss me off! They’re probably not too much different than any one else’s. I do have one thing I’d like to share though. One of the things that drew me to Rick was that he made me think of a young man I loved very much when I was about 12 years old. That was my cousin Butch. When he was killed in Viet Nam I wasn’t living with my family so I had no one to share with or to even understand my grief. I pretty much put it away until Rick started sharing with me his stories of the time he spent there. When I finally decided to talk to him about Butch, he said there was only one thing to do, and that was to visit the Memorial Wall. No one else I knew then, or know now could have given me better support. We both just stood and stared at all the names, and then spent a long time staring at my cousin’s name. We didn’t talk, we just stared. After a few minutes, we both looked at each other, tears running down our cheeks and at almost the same time we said “God, I’m ready for a beer.” And that was that. I finally got to say good-bye to Butch. So thank you for that, my friend, and for so much more.

Rick was a friend, a co-worker and a fellow veteran. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Rick touched a lot of people in special ways. He had a way of smiling and making people comfortable around him. He cared about other people eryday. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, co-workers. I lost touch with him thelast two years but thanks to a special friend she would always let me know how he was doing.
