Obituary of Robert Biehler

Robert Biehler Bob, 69, passed away at his home on April 13, 2012. He was born to Roland Bernard and Dorothy Mae Biehler in San Diego, CA. Bob grew up in San Diego and was part of Crawford High School’s class of 1961. Bob joined the U.S. Air Force in 1962. He served until 1966 at the Kirkland Air Force Special Weapons Base in Albuquerque, NM. There he married the love of his life, Tanya Henderson on June 7, 1963. Bob worked as a draftsman at San Diego Gas & Electric and a fabricator &welder at Impulse Products in San Diego. In 1979, Bob and Tanya moved to Olympia, WA where he started Bob’s Portable Welding and later Mr. Weld Hot Rods. Bob, “Mr. Weld,” was innately talented and he put his touch on some of the world’s finest hot rods. Today, it would be impossible to go to a northwest car show and not see some of his work. Family was most important to Bob. He loved spending time with them. He also enjoyed building and racing his custom motorcycle at the Bonneville Salt Flats in pursuit of setting a new land speed record. Bob liked metal art fabrication, pinstriping, surfing, scuba diving and listening to music. Bob’s quick wit and sense of humor are going to be missed by all who knew him. Surviving Bob are his wife of 48 years, Tanya of Olympia; mother Dorothy Mae Biehler, Alpine, CA; daughter Lorrea Biehler, Olympia; son Clinton (Sara) Biehler, Olympia; sister Linda (Chuck) Simon of Alpine, CA; and brother-in-law Mike Andrews; four grandchildren Brandi (Monti) Sorem, Kinzie Biehler Hollingshead, Madeline Biehler, Orion Biehler and great granddaughter Kenadee Sorem. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Roland Bernard and his sister Jeneen Myers.
