Obituary of Lois V Berry

Lois V Berry died peacefully in her sleep July 8, 2009. She was born February 25, 1921 to Bernice and Wray Nansel in Arnold, Nebraska. Lois spent her early years growing up in Lomita, California where she graduated from Narbonne High School. Her first three children, John, Ronald and Judy were born during her marriage to John Goss that ended in divorce. On July 6, 1946 she married Frederick Neil Berry. They moved to Olympia and where three more children were born; Tom, Cathi and Sharon. Fred and Lois were married for 58 years until his passing. Together they raised the six children and were able to enjoy many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.Lois worked as a waitress and then later work at the Olympia Brewery. She was a key punch operator and retired in early 1970’s. In 1974 she and Fred moved to Hood Canal where they enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, shrimping; gardening and feeding the raccoons. She was known to have made toll house cookies for the raccoons. Lois was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. They later moved back to the Olympia. Lois was always known for her good nature and her ability to enjoy life. She was a very kind person and will be greatly missed. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Berry and daughter Judy Shadrick. Lois is survived by her husband Clyde Aukerman, son’s John Goss (Dolly) of Olympia, Ron Berry (Carol) of Seattle, Tom Berry (Carrie) of Olympia and daughters Cathi Lee of Lacey and Sharon Fischer (Ron) of Edmonds. She also has a brother Gordon Nansel in Mt. Vernon and a sister Donna Steinbach in Chino, California. The family wishes to thank Woodland Retirement and Assisted Living for the wonderful care they provided to Lois for the past couple of years. A celebration of life potluck will held on July 25, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Jacob Smith House, 4500 Intelco Loop SE, Lacey. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Lacey Fire District, 1231 Franz St. SE, Lacey, WA 98503 or the Olympia Fire Department, 100 Eastside St NE, Olympia, WA 98501.
