Obituary of LTC Frank Andringa US Army

Friday, May 20, 2005 9:00 a.m. to service time Main Post Chapel Liggett Ave., Building 2001 Ft. Lewis, Washington LTC Frank Andringa US Army (Ret), 81, a resident of Olympia, died Thursday, May 12, 2005. He was born January 8, 1924 in Marne, Michigan to Frank and Isabelle (Wysdyke) Andringa. He was a 1941 graduate of Berlin High School in Marne and attended the University of Maryland. From 1942 – 1945 he was in the United States Navy during WWII including a tour in Okinawa. In 1948 Frank re-enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired in 1969. In 1942 he had married Kathryn Hargreaves in Ventura, California, they later divorced. He then married Frances Perry in 1977. Frances died in 1996. Frank married his surviving wife, Betty Lou Rosine-Dean in 1997 in Surprise, Arizona. After his retirement from the Army, Frank managed the Olympia office of the Automobile Association of America, "AAA," for 17 years. He lived in Surprise, Arizona from 1989 to 2003 where he met his wife Betty Lou. They moved to Olympia in 2003. He enjoyed golf, reading, and the stock market. In addition to his wife, Betty Lou, he is survived by his former wife, Kathryn Hargreaves Andringa, of Lacey; two sons, Frank Andringa Jr. (Skip), wife Paula, of Rainier, Dale Andringa, wife (Suk), of Lacey; three daughters, Shirley (Ron) Ryder, Nora (Paul) Pearson, Mary (Adnan) Anwar, all of Olympia; one sister, Ida Peeters, of Castro Valley, California; two step-daughters, Kathi Short of California and Debbie Miller of Idaho; eight grandchildren, Robert, Sherry, Andrew, Brian, Sonya, Qais, Alex and Sarah; also two great grandchildren, Jessie and Joselyn. Frank was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2005 at the Main Post Chapel, Liggett Ave., Building 2001, at Ft. Lewis, Washington. Those who wish may pay their respects beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the chapel. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Masonic Memorial Park, 455 North St. S.E., Tumwater, Washington. Friends are invited to attend the graveside service and a reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
