Obituary of Rudolph Noll Alonzo

Rudolph (“Rudy”) Noll Alonzo, Jr. Rudolph Noll Alonzo, Jr. passed away January 26, 2007 at his home in Yelm, WA after a 3-year fight against multiple myeloma, an incurable cancer of the blood and bone. Rudy was born December 4, 1945 in Boise, ID to Rudolph Sr. and Dorathy Alonzo. He graduated from Borah High School (Boise, ID) in 1964, and studied at the University of Idaho, Boise State University and Lewis and Clark State College. Rudy served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Vietnam era. He married Catherine Culver September 16, 1967 in Mossyrock, WA and had two sons between 1969 and 1972. After honorable discharge from the Navy, Rudy worked on Dworshak Dam in Orofino, ID and, in 1972, started his own concrete construction business. By 1983, Alonzo Construction Incorporated did residential and commercial construction in four states. Rudy and family resided in Orofino, ID from 1970 to 1992, Moscow, ID from 1992 to 1994 and Viola, ID from 1994 to 2006. Before cancer forced his retirement in 2004, Rudy worked as a project superintendent for Palouse Empire Inc. and the Structural Estimator for Washington State University. Rudy was preceded in death by his father Rudolph Alonzo, Sr. in 2004. He is survived by his wife Cathie who resides at their home in Yelm, WA, his sons Jamie (Hamden, CT) and Wade (Yacolt, WA), five grandchildren, mother Dorathy Alonzo (Nampa, ID) and sisters Christina Culdice (Boise, ID) and Jonette Flores (Nampa, ID). Rudy was an avid fisherman, hunter and packrat. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, landscaping and building. He was a hard worker, loyal friend and devoted family man. Rudy Alonzo’s memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moscow, ID (208.882.4813, http://users.moscow.com/stmarys/index2.htm). A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held immediately following the memorial service at the Moscow Elk’s Golf Course (3080 Highway 8; 208.882.3015). All are welcome.
