Obituary of David Sharp

Dave passed away suddenly on August 24, 2013 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia, WA. He was born in Spokane, WA to Robert and Rosie Sharp on July 14, 1947. Dave grew up in Sprague, WA and graduated from Sprague High School in 1965. He attended Yakima Valley Community College and finished his associate’s degree at Spokane Falls Community College. Dave did a two-year funeral director’s apprenticeship at Hennessey Funeral Home in the early seventies and received his associate’s science degree in Mortuary Science at Mount Hood Community College in August 1973. He met the love of his life, Christine Elaine Ramsey, while working in Vancouver, WA. They married at her parents’ lake house in Lacey, WA on June 25, 1977. For the next 13 years they lived in the Everett area. During that time their son, Joseph Ramsey (1983), was born and their daughter, Meagan Jean (1987) arrived four years later. In 1990 the Sharp family moved to Tumwater, WA where they lived for 21 years. In November 2009 Dave retired from Mills and Mills Funeral Home. He continued to work in the funeral business for Whiteside Family Mortuaries in Aberdeen and retired a second time in June 2013. In July 2011, Dave and Chris moved into her parents’ beautifully remodeled home on Hicks Lake. Dave enjoyed sitting in his favorite chair with his dog, Piper, looking out at the lake, as well as watching and attending Husky football games. Dave also really cherished spending time with his family. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Chris, son Joe, and daughter Meagan. He is also survived by his brother Dick (Claudette), and sisters Barb (John) Gates, Betsy (Ed) Louie, Kay Sharp and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a countless world of loving friends. Please join us in the celebration of Dave’s life. It will be held at South Sound Manor: 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501 on September 8th, 2013 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers (because as a funeral director Dave got a little tired of dealing with them), the family is requesting that donations be made out to Lacey Fire Department: 1231 Franz St SE, Lacey, WA 98503 or Maccabee Cemetery in Sprague: C/O Kathy Harding, 39770 Harding Road, Sprague, WA 99032. Please leave your condolences and stories on the Guestbook below.
