I was saddened to learn of Dave’s passing. I served my apprenticeship under Dave in Everett many years ago. As I look back over the years, he is one of the people who stand out the most. I still remember many of his jokes (usually they were at my expense.) I also remember what a careful and caring professional he was. He taught me how to do things correctly and carefully. Our thoughts are with his family.

I was privileged to have the chance to work with Dave in the funeral home. He was one of the finest funeral directors and embalmers I have ever met. Although he didn’t like to meet with families, he had a way of taking care of people at a funeral like none other and was a master at his trade in the embalming room. I will never forget his keen sense of humor and his ability to scare the girls in the office as often as he could. Dave was a great friend and colleague and I will miss him. RIP Dave!

Dave and I were classmates in Funeral Service Education at Mt. Hood Community College. We later both worked for Uniservice Corporation, but I had not seen him in a long time. He was always a nice person and I am sure an outstanding and caring funeral director. My sympathy to Dave’s family.

Delivering terminal furniture (caskets) to funeral homes for twenty-eight years gave me the pleasure of spending time with some really great people. Dave was one of the finest of them all. So glad we stayed in touch and visited all these years after you left Everett.

Dave was a great friend and neighbor! I enjoyed working with him when he visited St. Peter Hospital, while I was working there. His humor, love of family, and caring attitude were exceptional and a pleasure to find in his profession. The past two years as a neighbor we shared several laughs and memories as he would drive by or walk the precious children. He will be missed by everyone he touched in his life, and remembered always. My sincere condolences to Chris and the entire Sharp family.

My sincere condolences to Chris and the entire Sharp family. Dave and I were classmates for seven years at SJA in Sprague. Later, we played on the high school basketball team for SHS. We voted Dave as our team captain his senior year. So over the years we played together, prayed together, and shared dozens of activities in sports, church and school. Dave’s dad, Bob, was my first coach for football, basketball, and track. His mom, Rosie, was “the nurse” for dozens of bumps, bruises and scrapes for many of the kids in Sprague. It has been an honor to be his friend. When OK Palmer asked us in class one time what we wanted to do for our careers, Dave announced he wanted to be a mortician. Most of us laughed. Well he did what he said he was going to do. I never forgot that. RIP, Dave.

It is with the greatest sorrow knowing that Dave will not be with us. We spent hours, over the last 18 years, in the yard mowing, taking out the garbage, etc., talking and solving world problems. His help with me with Bob was greatly appreciated. When Bob couldn’t get in and out of bed, the joke was “Ruth goes and gets the undertaker to help” and of course, that was Dave. He would always come at the drop of a hat. He was such a great friend to us.

Dave was one of the funniest, kindest, and caring men I have ever known. While we worked together in the early 90’s he taught me so much about the business but even more, he taught me that family (personal life) is really what matters. He always glowed when he talked about Chris and the kids (yes, you were kids then). I am so very sorry for your loss. Chris, thank you for all the Christmas picture cards over the years, I always felt Dave was still in my life and I was thankful for that.

To Chris and family, my heartfelt sympathy. It seems like just yesterday we ran into each other on our honeymoons, still can’t believe that coincidence. Although work and responsibilities has kept us apart, I always feel a special bond in knowing you and Dave and thinking of you at this difficult time. My prayers are with you and your family.

To the entire Sharp family, my heartfelt sympathies for the untimely loss of Dave. As my Summer Brother in the mid-60s, Dave taught me important things about life. As an example, I learned that if you flush the toilets upstairs causing the downstairs shower to run ice cold, you could learn new swear words. He also taught me how to wash a car, that being after I covered his car with silly string. Most memorably, Dave showed me what the inside of a flushing toilet bowl looks like from upsidedown. These memories are forever etched in my brain, just as Summer Brother Dave will be forever ensconced in my heart. Dave, I raise a can of silly string in your honor. May you always have hot showers in heaven. Give Wosie and Daddy-o-Bob hugs for me.

Chris and family, I’m so sorry to hear of your sorrow. My prayers are with you all. I hold in my heart the wonderful memories of visiting the mortuary with all of the students in Suzie’s and my classes. Dave and the staff were so kind to let us come each year and take a tour of the facilities. Those trips were always positive and I’m sure helped each child later in life. I’ll never forget their precious letters sent to Dave and the mortuary staff. May God comfort you all at this time.
