Doug has been a very special friend and member of our family for over 25 years. I first met Doug at the Idaho National Lab and we immediately became friends. We always stayed connected as he worked in different states and got together whenever we could. On one of our many INL business trips he introduced me to good scotch and he was so pleased I liked it . My children all loved him so much and he even had my little Granddaughters fall in love with him. Just before Doug moved to Washington we met at Starbucks for coffee and I took my little Granddaughter Presley with me. The first thing she did was lean over and said, “Doug, I am a hugger and I think you look like you need one of my big hugs”. I will never forget the twinkle in his eyes and that beautiful big smile and hug he exchanged with her. Starbucks on State street was our place to meet every week I was in Boise, and we spent hours just talking about life. The many good times and challenging times.
I know his smile is lighting up heaven along with my Christopher’s. It’s been hard to let you go my friend, but I know you are at peace and you will always be loved by all of us. Will miss our long talks, your great smile , your hugs and all the memories.
A very special thanks to Terry and his family for the love and support. He loved and appreciated you so much.
Doug just loved you so much Amy as you know, and was so proud to have you as he sister.
We were all blessed to have Douglas in our lives.

Man oh man, we gals wanted Doug to come back to Los Alamos, New Mexico so bad We all had so much fun at work with him. From the time he walked in with those beautiful eyes and red tie and suit, we all fell in love with him. He never wanted his picture taken but I have lots and lots of them to remember him by. We would give him such grief when it came to his birthday.
On our breaks we would laugh and have a fun time. He would buy us reubens, burritos, enchiladas anything we wanted. He liked good scotch and he liked my turkey stuffing. When Johnson Controls changed companies, he left us and work was so boring without him. I wanted him to come and work for the Lab in 2006-7, and he said if I can find him a job, he would come back.
I am sure going to miss you, Doug, and all the memories. I am so happy you came into all our lives here in New Mexico.

My condolences to Doug’s family and friends. I feel so blessed to have been friends with Doug and been able to learn from him. I worked with Doug in New Mexico and enjoyed his advice, constructive criticism, and early morning chats. Even after Doug moved away we spoke occasionally on the phone and kept in touch via e-mail. As I was beginning my career in Labor Relations, his advice was (and still is) greatly appreciated.
Doug will missed!!

On behalf of the Scott family, I wish to extend our sympathies to Doug’s family and his friends. May your sweet memories of Doug bring you comfort during this difficult time.
The family friendship between Doug’s family and mine began just after the turn of the 20th century in Colorado. Our families were close until the Schiebler and Anderson families moved to Southern Idaho. I used to babysit Doug, Amy, Tim & Leslie. I remember Doug was so full of life. What a grand smile he had! Many years have passed, yet Doug and his family have remained in our thoughts. I tried to contact him and his siblings for a reunion several years ago, but wasn’t successful.
I hope to be able to attend Doug’s services in September.
With our sympathies & love,
Mary Jane (Scott) Watt
on behalf of the Scott family

I carried you home from the hospital. I never knew why I was given that privilege. You didn’t weigh much, five lbs. & three ozs.. Trudie , your german shepard and I became your babysitters. She would sit by your bassinet
I took you for your first haircut which got me in trouble with your dad. Well, you were very shaggy and emerged from the barber shop a very proud and handsome little boy. It wasn’ t so presumptious of me, your mother asked me to do it and grandma drove us to Wallace, Now, I think that I was set up to take the flack, but I didn’t care, you never looked shaggy again.
You used to run into my house yelling “cream pups, Aunt Carol”.
The year you lived with us and attended BSU, I lay in bed at night until I heard the Chevelle gear down to round the corner. I knew then that you were safely home & I could rest in peace. Well, once again you are safely home and it is your turn to rest in peace. Sleep well, Dougie Dean.. I am sure Trudie was waiting for you and is watching over you once again..
I never stopped loving you, Aunt Carol
P.S. Your card arrived two days after you left us. I will treasure it forever. Thank you for that.

Douglas was my cousin I didn’t really know him much later in life but I did know him quite a bit when I was little girl. One of my favorite memories was when he took me to Firebird when I was 10 or 11 he made a bet with me to pick the winning car and he would buy me a cheeseburger fries and a coke I picked out the orange car because I thought was pretty well the orange car won and he got stuck buying me a cheeseburger fries and a coke. It was one of my fondest memories. I also remember riding in his 72′ Chevelle.

Doug, a lot of memories have been filling my mind recently. You left this world way too soon. I was truly hoping that as we grew older and had more free time we could reconnect and enjoy some times in our golden years together like we did when we were growing up. Even though your not here with us anymore I will always concentrate on remembering the good times. Gonna miss ya cousin and I’ll think about ya till the day I join ya. Brian
